TANZANIA NATIONAL ROADS AGENCY (TANROADS) is a Semi -Autonomous Agency under the Ministry of Works, Transport and Communication established on July 1, 2000 and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Tanzania Mainland’s Trank and Regional Roads Network. Its primary functions include the management of maintenance and development works, operations of the network and axle load control, the implementation of road safety and environmental measures, provision of advice on the strategic framework policies and plans for the road sector.

JOB VACANCIES

The Regional Manager TANROADS – MARA on behalf of Chief Executive, TANROADS, is looking for suitably qualified Tanzania candidates for various vacant posts available for the project of Upgrading of Nyamuswa-Bunda-Kisorya-Nansio Road (121.9 Km) to Bitumen Standard; Lot 1; Nyamuswa -Bulamba Section (56.4km,Weigbridge stations and Regional Manager’s Office in Mara Region. Regional Manager TANROADS
Mara invites qualified and interested candidates to apply for the following positions:

1. JOB TITLE: CASHIER ( 2 POSTS). 

Duties and Responsibilities of Cashier:
The holder of this post who reports to Shift Incharge will be responsible for:
● Record properly all required weighbridge accounting information.
● Ensure that all necessary accounting forms at the weighbridge station are properly filled and kept.
● Provide reports on axle loading accounting procedures which may be required.
● Take care of weigh bridge accountable documents
● Cooperate with the relevant parties involved in the axle control operations.
● Implement directives relating to axle load control from the high authority and station supervisor.
● To receive money and issue receipts to defaulters.
● Ensure that all receipts are timely reoerded and banked.
● Maintain accurate records of receipts received/issued
● Arranges the prompt of utility and other invoices related to the day to day running of the office.
● Maintain defaulters register
● Performs any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by his/her superior or by Head of Accountant and Adminisration Regional Manager.
● Reporting all matters to the shift Iucharge/Axle Load control supervisor.

Key qualification for the Cashier:
● Holder of Ordinary Secondary Education/Advance Secondary Education and ATEC, NABE Stage III or equivalent.
● Must be Computer literate (at least Advance
● Certificate in Computer Applications);
● Must be fluent in both written and spoken Kiswahili and English Languages
● Must be Tanzanian Citizen; Not above 35 years of Age. 

2. JOB TITLE:  DRIVER – (4 POSTS). 

Duties and Responsibilities of Driver:
● Drivers Agency motor vehicles
● Keeps vehicle movement records in log book
● Collects and distribute mail as directed by responsible officers
● Inspects the vehicle before and after “safari” in order to identify defects that may need maintenance and/or repairs
● Ensures scheduled and ad-hoc maintenance of the vehicle are timely done.
● Performs any such other related duties as assigned by superiors.

Key qualification for Driver:
● Holders of Ordinary (Form TV) or Advanced Secondary Education (Form VI) Certificates;
● Holders of Advanced Driving Certificates from recognized Institution is an added advantages ( preferable from National Institute of Transport (NIT).
● Experience m reputable Institution is an added advantage;
● Must have genuine and valid Driving License “Category C”.
● Must be fluent in both written and spoken Kiswahili and English Languages
● Must be a Tanzanian citizen.
● Between 25 and 38 years of Age. 

3. JOB TITLE: OFFICE ASSISTANT (1 POST)

Duties and Responsibilities of Office Assistant:
● Cleaning offices, washrooms and premises;
● Preparing and serving tea, coffee and refreshments
● Moving files and documents and directed;
● Undertaking photocopying/ or binding of documents as directed;
● Dispatching letters or parcels;
● Observing good customer care, dignity and integrity;
● Reporting all matters to the Shift In charge:
● Performing such other related duties as may be assigned by the senior staff

Key qualification for Office Assistant:
● Holder of a Certificate of Secondary Education Exam (CSEE)
● Must be fluent in Kiswahili and preferably be able to communicate in English;
● Must be a Tanzania Citizen:

4. JOB TITLE: WEIGHBRIDGE OPERATORS ( 6 POSTS)

Duties and Responsibilities of Weighbridge Operator
● The holder of this post who reports to Shift Incharge will be responsible for:
● Enforcing Road Traffic Axle Load Control by the use of weighbridge scale devices;
● Carrying out activities as described in the road Traffic (maximum weigh of Vehicles) Regulations, 2001 which include the following;
● Weighing motor vehicles gross vehicle weight (GVW) > 3.500kg plying on our public Roads.
● Imposing road damage fees on the spot for overloaded vehicles;
● Measuring physical dimensions of motor vehicle or any load being carried on the motor vehicle for providing advices to transporter for provision od relevant advice. 
● Recording all necessary particulars regarding the motor vehicle being weighed;
● Observing good customer care, dignity and integrity;
● Reporting all matters of the respective shift in-charge;
● Performing other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Shift In-charge/Regional Manager;

Key qualification for the Weighbridge Operator:
● Holder of full Technician Certificate or Ordinary Diploma in Civil;
● Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (FTC);
● Must be Computer literate (at least Advance Certificate in Computer Applications);
● Must be fluent in both written and spoken Kiswahili and English Languages:
● Must be Tanzanian Citizen
● Not above 35 years of Age.  

5. JOB TITLE: HIGHWAY ENGINEER (6 Months Contract)- 1 POST 

Duties/Responsibilities:
● His/her duties shall comprise road surveys, construction of pavements structure, measuring of quantities and management of site operations.

Educational/ Professional Qualifications:
● Must have a Bachelor Degree in civil or highway Engineering or equivalent from any recognized Higher Learning Institution/ Colleges.
● Must be registered as Professional Engineer with ERB
● A postgraduate qualification in highway engineering and experience in contact administration under FIDIC/PPRA Conditions of contract will be an added advantage,
● A National form TV/VI certificate. Work 

Experience:
● He/she must have a minimum of seven (07) years of specific experience related to road design and contraction,
● He/she must have served in a similar Capacity for at least two (2) project for contraction of bituminous roads of similar magnitude and complexity in the seven (07) years.
● In additional, He/she must have working experience of at least three (3) years in sub – Sahara Countries. 

Competence:
● Must be Computer literate Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.
● Self-motivation, able to work under pressure outside working hours with minimum supervision.
