JOB TITLE: Project Officer VSLA
Reports to: Senior Project Officer
Location: Kasulu Kigoma
Contract Duration: 10 months
Good Neighbors Tanzania - Kigoma Office is looking for a suitable candidate for the mentioned post, who will be responsible for all Voluntary and Saving Loans Association-related activities and ensure that they are well managed within the host community and accurately shared to Kigoma Office.
Duties and Responsibilities
● In charge of implementation of livelihood programme (VSLA) in host communities, including activity detailed planning, organizing, and management.
● Ensure all stages of implementation from planning, beneficiary selection, developing curriculum, training sessions and monitoring follow-up.
● To create instruction manual of VSLA operation.
● Conduct awareness/sensitization on VSLA among communities and local government officials.
● Develop work plans (weekly, monthly, and quarterly) to ensure effective implementation of VSLA related activities as outlined in the detailed implementation plan.
● Facilitate and ensure establishment of village savings and loans association groups.
● Oversee and regularly monitor when the VSLA groups are conducting the share purchase, social contributions and borrowing and repayment of loans to ensure proper documentation/recording of VSLA field cash box.
● Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
People Management
● Recruit and supervise activities of Village Agents including allowance payment, capacity building.
● Train beneficiaries and village agent’s skills on VSLA methodology.
● Coach, supervise, and mentor the village agents for effective facilitation and support of VSLA.
● Ensure linkage/integration economic development activities with Agro-dealer and Financial Institutions.
Regular Reporting
● Share the progress update and plan regarding VSLA.
● Consolidate/compile monthly, quarterly and annual activity reports and special events showing achievements, lessons, constraints and recommendations which should be submitted to the Project Manager at the agreed time.
● Engage with monitoring and evaluation activities for VSLA programme in host communities.
● Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
Qualification, experiences, and competencies
● Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Community Development, Economics, Rural Development, or other relevant social sciences from a reputable institution.
● At least three years’ experience in livelihood activities especially in Village Savings and Loan Associations.
● Strong communication and report writing skills Strong computer skills to use standard computing packages such as word, excel, powerpoint, spreadsheets, and database software programs
● Proficiency in official reports and proposals, communication skills, and computer skills.
● Experience in working with International NGOs, UN agencies, and local authorities.
● An excellent written and oral command of English and Swahili.
