JOB TITLE: Risk And Compliance Officer (1 Post)

Job Purpose
Risk and Compliance officer is responsible for carrying out tasks related to bank-wide risk management and ensure compliance with bank’s policies and procedures. Conduct periodical reviews to assess compliance with the bank`s policies, procedures and tolerance limits by all departments and report the same to the supervisor. The Officer is also responsible for carrying out investigation on allegations of financial crime and irregularities within ABT as directed by internal policies and procedure. The person is also expected to work closely with all areas of the business, promoting a positive risk and compliance culture and to have effective risk management and compliances with policies, procedure and various laws and regulations governing the operations of the bank.
Responsibilities
● Carry out all different types of review assignments independently in accordance with the Risk and Compliance procedures.
● Perform on-going monitoring of risk-taking activities and risk exposure and ensure they are in line with the broad risk management, appetite, and limits of the bank.
● Extract various data, analyze and prepare risk management reports and assist your supervisor to coordinate the meetings
● Follow up on the closure of various issues raised in different bank reports, e.g. Audit reports and internal risk reports.
● Assist to carry out self/risk assessment of different bank operational areas, department and ensure there are effective controls and follow up on action agreed.
● Conduct different control test and ensure they are operating as expected, and report on anomalies.
● Ensure data quality policy is implemented and observed and carry out regular test of control adequacy and effectiveness.
● Participate in new products or services risk assessment and ensure all risks are captured before the product or services is launched.
● Undertake Compliance monitoring and policy testing review in accordance with the plan and produce accurate and timely reports in respect of compliance assurance activity.
● Be an advocate for increasing compliance awareness across the businesses.
● Actively participate in a bank-wider risk monitoring & investigations.
● Follow up on internal Control Checklist, update incident log and ensure timely submission of report.
● Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in interaction with the business team, auditors and various stakeholders.
● Follow up on the updating of various bank policies and procedures and ensure they are stored in ABT-data for reference.
Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications
● Minimum of 3 years’ experience from business operation departments, audit or prior experience from risk department.
● Bachelor degree in business or Advanced diploma in business, IT, law (any major).
● Experience in regulatory compliances would be added advantages.
● Good knowledge of banks laws, regulations, and regulatory agencies.
● Good knowledge of bank products, services and how they are subjected to various laws and regulations.
● Immense ability to write composition reports, good knowledge in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
● Honest person with high integrity and independence who will observe professional ethics in executing his/her duties.
